LA Judge Award

LA Judge Award

The LA Judge Award is considered the most prestigious award that presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young bakers to get a head start in the Australian baking industry. Entrants have nothing to lose and everything to gain by nominating as a candidate for the LA Judge Award!

This exciting competition is open to bakers of Australia and New Zealand who have recently completed their trade qualification and are 25 years of age or younger as of 1 January in the year of competition. They must be employed, working within the baking industry and living in the state they are nominating for. A candidate can only compete in the competition once. Talk to your industry association for more information about nominating.

The LA Judge Award is an annual competition held over three days. The competition is not open for public viewing. Competitors travel to the AEGIC Sydney Office (North Ryde) to be tried and tested in the areas of practical baking, technical knowledge, presentation, and communication in the presence of a panel of three industry judges. At the end of the third day the winner is announced at the LA Judge Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony which is attended by key industry connections.

Qualifying and making it through the competition is considered a significant achievement in itself, every competitor is a winner just by competing. Competitors have said that competing is a great experience weather you win or lose, you gain new friends and contacts in the industry. Prizes include overseas trips, and more.
