Northern Territory Baking Show

The NBIA in conjunction with Charles Darwin University presents the Northern Territory Baking Show. The show will be held at the Palmerston Campus in the Training Bakery. 

The highest-scoring entrant in each category of the Northern Territory Baking Show wins the Major Category Prize and the second highest-scoring entry of each category will be awarded a certificate. The Champion of The Show (Sponsored by NBIA) is awarded to the entrant who receives the highest overall score.

The competition is open to trade-qualified and apprentice bakers and pastrycooks. Categories include Show Bread, Speciality Bread, Cakes, Sweet Pastries, Fancy Pastries, Savoury Pastries, and Apprentice Category. Entrants are encouraged to be creative and innovative.

Entrants can hand deliver their exhibits between 8.00 am and 10.00 am on the day. Judging will commence at 10.00 am, any entries received after this time will not be judged.

Entry fees are $5.00 per class with NBIA Members receiving a discount of 50% off. All entrants must use the online entry form to register their exhibits.

Judging of the Northern Territory Baking Show is closed to viewers and will take place in the training bakery at Charles Darwin University. The judging criteria are as per the adopted uniform schedule: Volume and General appearance 35%, Aroma 20%, Texture 30%, and Colour 15%.

Once judging is complete the training bakery will be open from 2.30 pm for viewing the entries. Awards will be presented on the University lawns on the afternoon of judging from 3.30 pm. All entrants, families, and businesses are welcome to join us to celebrate your efforts, talk to judges, and mingle with other NT bakers.
