Easter is coming up and with it it brings many public holidays, which means different trading hours and wage rates for your business. Check out the information below to help with understanding staff entitlements on these days and remember if you need assistance with IR or HR give us a call.

Public holidays differ from state to state, some even change from year to year or may be moved to a week day due to falling on a weekend. Below is a list of upcoming public holidays for each state or territory in Australia.

Employees don’t have to work on a public holiday, however, an employer can ask an employee to work on a public holiday, if the request is reasonable. The employee can refuse a request to work if they have reasonable grounds and employers need to consider all relevant circumstances when asking. Click here to read more about this.
